Mount Blanc, known as Mont Blanc in French and Monte Bianco in Italian, is a mountain located in the Alps on the border between France and Italy. It has the 11th highest elevation in the world, and is sometimes referred to as “the roof of Europe”. Jacques Balmat and Michel Gabriel Paccard were the first recorded climbers to reach the summit in 1786, and Marie Paradis was the first woman to reach it in 1808.</p>

<p><strong>Things to see &amp; do in Mount Blanc and Chamonix</strong><br />
Chamonix also hosts many events throughout the year though particularly in the summer, everything from music concerts and festivals to world famous sporting events. There are also museums to be visited, including the Musée Alpin which is located in the Chamonix Palace and covers the town’s fascinating Alpine history.</p>
<p>There are cinemas and also a sports center which offers not only keep fit facilities but heated indoor swimming pools, tennis, squash and even an ice rink. And of course, Chamonix offers all the dining facilities you would expect.</p>
<p>There is a cable car that runs from Chamonix (1035 meters) to Aiguille du Midi, which is at 3842 meters. The view on this journey is simply amazing, and is an experience not to be missed. The cable car that runs between Chamonix and Brévent has a restaurant at the top station that provides 360 degree views of the Mont Blanc Massif that have to be seen to be believed.</p>
